From Saturday, 12 June 21 through Sunday, 13 June 21, the Korea National University of Arts Industry Academy Cooperation Foundation with Hyundai Chung Mong-Koo Foundation presents “The Middle of Summer” at CJ Towol Theater in Seoul Arts Center. “The Middle of Summer” is a performance on the artistic life of Korean traditional dance master Kim Mae Ja. For this musical, professor Lee Dong-yeun of the School of Korean Traditional Arts wrote the script, and choreographer Lee Jaehwan directed the stage. Kim Mae Ja and the twenty members of her Chang Mu Dance Company crew will perform. The performance is a part of the Art Village Project of great artist series organized by Chung Mong-Koo Foundation and hosted by the K-ARTS Industry Academy Cooperation Foundation. It is their third project together, after the first musical “Two Loves” by pansori master Ahn Sook Sun (former professor of the School of Korean Traditional Arts) in 2019 and the second musical “Kim Duk-soo” by pansori master Kim Duk-soo (ex-professor of the School of Korean Traditional Arts) in 2020.
