9 Current Students of KNIGA on Sejong Campus Win in Various National Competitions

  

9 Current Students of KNIGA on Regional (Sejong) Campus Win in Various National Competitions of Different Genres

 

  

The current nine students of the Korea National Institute for the Gifted in Arts (KNIGA) on the Sejong campus had the glory of winning in various national competitions of different genres. The accomplishment is significant, for the KNIGA Sejong campus, which just officially opened after having completed its pilot operation, seems to successfully take root as an efficient institution for educating prospective artists in Chungcheong Province.

 

In music, Kim Ga-eul (12 years old) garnered 2nd prize in the 21st Classical Music Magazine Music Concours and Gold Prize in the piano of the elementary school division at the 63rd National Student Music Competition by the Federation of Artistic & Cultural Organization of Korea (FACO) North Chungcheong Province. In piano of the middle school division in the same contest, Yoo Jisu (14 years old) won the Gold Prize, and Bae Sumin (17 years old) took the Encouragement Prize. Also, at the 61st Dong-A Music Competition, Sim Hyunji (14 years old) earned the Grand Prize. In the 12th Ceramic Palace Hall Music Competition, Seo Ye-shin (12 years old) also won the 1st prize in the violin of the elementary school division.

 

In dance, Na Go-eun (13 years old) took the Bronze Prize in the 24th Sunhwa National Dance Competition, and Kim Dohee (14 years old) earned the Gold Prize in the 23rd National Dance Competition arranged by Deokwon Arts High School. Earlier, Na and Kim each had won the Special Award in the 14th Dance Competition by Goyang High School of Arts. Kim Dahee (11 years old), a winner of the Sejong Human Resources & Lifelong Education Development Foundation scholarship, had the glory of winning the Gold Prize awarded by the mayor of Sejong City in the 4th National Dance Competition.

 

In Korean traditional arts, Yoo Jusang (16 years old) became the winner of the Excellence Prize in the 11th Nonghwa National Gugak Competition.

 

The KNIGA on the Sejong campus is a part of a project for expanding art education for gifted in arts in Korea implemented by K-Arts and the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. The project is now propelling the construction of a system for fostering art education of gifted in arts in the region of Chungcheong (Sejong, Daejeon, South and North Chungcheong).
