K-Arts Welcomes New President Kim Daejin

 

Professor Kim Daejin Takes the Office as the 9th President of the K-Arts


 On 26 August 21 (Thurs.), the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism appointed the 9th president of the Korea National University of Arts. His tenancy is four years from the date of appointment.

 

The new president Kim Daejin is an eminent pianist, the 1st prize winner of numerous music competitions. He has constantly communicated with the public as an art director, music director, or conductor in the Suwon Philharmonic Orchestra, Changwon Philharmonic Orchestra, KBS Symphony Orchestra, and Yeosu Music Festival. Furthermore, he has taught in the School of Music beginning from 1994, the foundation year of the K-Arts. The world-class pianists such as Son Yeol-eum, Kim Sunwook, Lee Jinsang, and Mun Chloe Jiyeong are his students.

 

Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of South Korea Hwang Hee stated, “Lately, the Korean cultures, arts, and contents go global, and the world loves them. And I expect the Korea National University of Arts, which marks its 30th anniversary next year, will take another step forward with the expertise of the new president.”

 

For this election, the K-Arts determined the details of the electoral procedure through democratic discussions based on the opinions of the faculty members. The direct election was held in June, in which the faculty members and students all cast their votes. It was the first time in the school history to run a direct election.
