The Collision Between Two Alumni Actors on Box Office

Byun Yohan’s On the Line (2021) and Park Jungmin’s Miracle: Letters to the President (2021) Rank 1st and 2nd Places in Box Office

On the Line (2021), the film starring Byun Yohan, and Miracle: Letters to the President (2021), the film starring Park Jungmin, reached the top of the box office during the Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving Day) holidays. The two actors are alumni of the School of Drama who studied in the same program in the same period. The collision between the two alumni on box office, who are now both Korea’s representative actors, elevated the audience’s anticipation for the two films even before their releases. In his acting career up to date, Park engrossed the film fans with his presence in, Deliver Us from Evil (2020), Keys to the Heart (2018), and Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet (2016). Byun consolidated his presence through his roles in a drama series, Misaeng (2014), and films, The Book of Fish (2021) and Will You Be There? (2016).

A crime-action movie, On the Line (2021), revolves around Seo-joon (Byun Yohan), a victim of vishing, who infiltrates into the perpetrators’ basecamp in China. Miracle: Letters to the President (2021) bases on a true story of Yangwon Station, constructed in 1988 in Bonghwa County, North Gyeongsang Province. It is a story of a remote town where its villagers wish to establish a privately-owned small train station.
