Alumna Hwan Jiyoon Presents an Solo Exhibition

Hwang Jiyoon Presents an Invited Solo Exhibition, “Refined Observation”

From 30 Sept. 21 to 26 Nov. 21 in the Hanwon Museum of Art, visual artist Hwang Jiyoon hosts an invited solo exhibition, “Refined Observation.” Hwang received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in fine arts in the School of Visual Arts and taught courses, “Understanding Drawing” and “Foundation & Studio” in the K-Arts.

Hwang Jiyoon seeks the new paradigm of drawing based on relations between artist and audience and on gazes and associations between different works. Hwang introduces various visual artworks, including drawing on glass using inlay techniques and writings that integrate drawing and installation. Furthermore, Hwang induces the audience into the frame of her works to put them in an ironic situation, where her artworks “observe” the audience as insinuated in the exhibition title.

Hwang is the winner of the 2014 Kumho Young Artist, 2012 OCI Young Creatives, and 209 KSD Art Prize granted by the Korea Securities Depository.
