2 Graduates Win the President’s and Prime Minister’s Prizes at the Onnara Dance Competition

 

Two K-Arts Graduates Acquire the President’s and Prime Minister’s Prizes at the 15th Onnara Dance Competition


 

In the 15th Onnara Dance Competition held at the Umyeon-dang in the National Gugak Center on 15 Sept. 21 (Wed.), Lee Seungchan (Department of Dance Performance) and Jung Mingeun (Department of Korean Traditional Dance) earned the President’s Prize with Chun Aing Dance and Prime Minister’s Prize with Han Yeong-suk’s Salpuri Dance, respectively.

 

Lee said, “I’ve entered the contest several times with Hanryang Dance before. Dancing Chun Aing Dance this time instead was my challenge. For me, I felt the movements amid serenity, the aesthetics of Korean traditional dance.

  

The Onnara Dance Competition organized by the National Gugak Center pursues discovering the talented in traditional dance and developing and promoting Korean folk dance and court dance. The contest had many winners who are now playing key roles in Korean traditional dance.
