Art Collider Lab Won the Best Prize at the Metaverse Idea Contest

K-Arts Art Collider Lab Won the Best prize at the 2021 Idea Contest of Metaverse Contents on Korean Cultural Experience

 

Art Samulnori, a project team of the Art Collider Lab, which is an affiliated institution of the K-Arts on arts and technology convergence, won the Grand Prize on the 2021 Idea Contest of Metaverse Contents on Korean Cultural Experience. The team was founded under the direction of Professor Cho Choon-yeon of the Department of Multimedia at the School of Film, TV & Multimedia, and consists of four artists who seeks to unite traditional art and the technology. 

 

The demands of online or metarverse gathering has been increasing under the social-distancing environment caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it has been difficult to find quality contents especially on Korean traditional performances, considering most of the mertaverse spaces are designed in western style. Art Samulnori's started from the basic idea of such critical analysis. 

 

2021 Idea Contest of Metaverse Contents on Korean Cultural Experience was hosted by the Korea Culture Information Service Agency and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and was held from July 12 to September 27th to promote Korean culture utilizing the metaverse platform. There was total of 10 awards from 90 applicants.
