Sujin’s Graduation Work Goes to the 75th
Festival de Cannes, for the First Time in Korean Animation History
The films produced in the School of Film, TV &
Multimedia goes to the 2022 Festival de Cannes as well as other multiple big international film festivals. "Persona (Gakjil)" by Director Moon Sujin, who recently achieved the BA degree from the Department of Animation, is officially invited to the Short Films Competition of the 75th Festival de Cannes. Moon enjoyed the glory of having her work invited to the other prominent animation film festivals around the world, such as the 46th Annecy International Animation Film Festival and the 32th Animafest Zagreb in the Graduation Short Film category.
"Persona (Gakjil)" is six-minute-long animation that illustrates the fear one faces while the self is being encroached on by her own persona. The Committee of the Festival de Cannes selected 9 short films for the Short Films Competition from 9 countries (South Korea, China, Costa Rica, US, France, Ghana, Hong Kong, Lithuania, and Nepal) after watching 3,507 films from more than 140 countries. It is also the first Korean animation film that goes to the Cannes.
This year, the 32nd Animafest Zagreb takes place for six
days, from 6 to 11 June, in Zagreb, Croatia. The 46th Annecy International
Animation Film Festival opens for six days, from 13 to 18 June. The Animafest
Zagreb is familiar with focusing more on the artistic than the commercial
aspects of the entry works. In contrast, the Annecy qualifies the harmony of
both.
