National Theater of Korea Stages Dance Performances by Cha Jin-yeop and Lee Kyung-gu

From 21 to 24 April at the Daloreum Theater, the National Theater of Korea (NTOK) premiered the “Double Bill,” a set of the two new dance pieces, one choreographed by Cha Jin-yeop and the other by the dance team Goblin Party where dancer Lee Kyung-gu belongs.

Cha, who choreographed the “Mongyu Dowon Dance,” is a graduate of the School of Dance who studied dance performance in K-Arts. Goblin Party’s Lee, who choreographed “The Hermit,” is also a K-Arts graduate who studied choreography in the School of Dance. This dance performance called public attention to its collaboration of contemporary dance choreographers and traditional dancers.

Cha Jin-yeop is a representative and art director of Collective A, an art group. She directed the choreography for programs in the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics and the 2021 Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism.

Lee Kyung-gu is a member of the Goblin Party, the dance group of choreographers and performers who works with Korean colors interpreted from a contemporary and creative perspective. In 2020, the Goblin Party won the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s Prize.
