Flutist Kim Seo-hyun Wins the 2nd in Carl Nielsen International Music Competition

 

Flutist Kim Seo-hyun Seizes the 2nd Prize in Carl Nielsen International Music Competition


 

At the Carl Nielsen International Music Competition, which ended on 10 April 22 in Denmark, flutist Kim Seo-hyun acquired the 2nd prize. Kim studied at the Korea National Institute for the Gifted in Arts (KNIGA) under the K-Arts. In the Carl Nielsen, Kim won the Odense Symphony Orchestra Prize and Junior Jury Prize and earned 12,000 EUR of prize money.

 

Kim started the flute at the age of 8. She is the winner of the 1st prize in the Alexander and Buono International Flute Competition and the 2nd prize in the Flute Festival Competition Singapore. Earlier in her career, Kim served as the principal flutist in the Gurzenich Orchestra Cologne in Germany. She now serves as the principal flutist in the Philharmonic Zurich, Switzerland. 

 

The Carl Nielsen Competition, restricted to the performers under age 30, was founded in 1980 to commemorate the Danish violinist and composer Carl Nielsen.
