Kim Doi Hosts the Solo Exhibition, “CE 20XX I”

From 9 to 19 April, Kim Doi, the BA of the School of Visual Arts, opened the first solo exhibition, “CE 20XX I,” at the Space XX, Seoul. After acquiring the BA degree in the School of Visual Arts, Kim pursued the MA in the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in the USA. Afterward, based in Seoul and New York, the artist worked on visual artworks using print, video, performance, and installations as mediums.

This exhibition imagines the world today as the “Common Era,” which shares the experience of pandemics, climate change, war, and economic issues regardless of country and inspects the values and questions to be re-considered in the imaginary era. It also displayed an animated video work, Spark (2020-2021), a winner of the Outstanding Achievement Award at the 2022 Tripvill International Film Festival, and a series of visual artworks, “Pearls,” about discrimination and hatred towards the minority groups the artist had faced in the US.
