《플리츠 파사드(Pleats Façade)》, ‘주름진 표면’으로 풀이할 수 있는 본 전시는 건물의 외벽을 전시장 내부로 조망한다. (‘파사드’를 건물 내벽면을 일걷는 말로도 겸용하겠다.) 돌출되거나 함몰된 건물의 벽면은 공간을 주름지게 하고, 이렇게 주름진 공간은 이용자의 동선을 연장한다. 여기서부터 저기까지 닿는 거리가 늘어남에 따라 이용자는 바깥과는 다른 속도로 공간을 경험하게 된다. 서로 다른 속도와 시각으로 걸어오던 윤나영과 이송주는 우연한 경유지로서 건축에 안착했다. 이에 발맞추어 전시장의 견고한 벽은 주름지기 시작하고, 당신은 무엇을 보는지 질문할 것이다.
Pleats Façade, which can be interpreted as a ‘pleated surface,’ frames the building’s exterior wall from within the exhibition space. (We also use ‘façade’ to refer to an interior wall of a building.) Walls that jut out or recede pleat the space, and these pleated spaces extend the paths of visitors. As the distance from here to there lengthens, visitors come to experience the space at a different tempo than they do outside. Nayong Yun and Song ju Lee, who had been walking at different speeds and from different vantage points, found themselves settling into architecture as an accidental waypoint. In keeping with them, the gallery’s solid walls begin to pleat, and you are prompted to ask what it is you are seeing.
